  Psst....someone tell 'em it was a joke
Tangata whenua not impressed with pre-battle Maori porn, thunders the Taranaki Daily Times, failing to mention that this film was originally promoted on Eating Media Lunch, a satirical, humourous, and above-all fictional TV programme....

  Just miscellaneous
Random things:

* I got a D for my last assignment for Cataloguing. OK, it wasn't a great essay, but no way was it a D. Put in context, the only two grades I've got from this marker are a C and a D. My grades from other markers in those two courses are A+, A, and A-. Something smells funny.

* It's probably the asparagus I ate.

* I've finished school apart from my research project. Which was going to be a survey of service quality in a corporate library. Till I left my job, so I now no longer work in a corporate library. Instead, I'm doing a review of the scientific literature (published in NZ) around party drugs, vs the press coverage they receive. (Party drugs being my not totally convincing categorisation of ecstasy, P, and "herbal highs"). At least I'm going to enjoy it. I think.

* I turned 32. I had birthday drinks that went pretty damn well. A decent load of people turned up - Drake bought his axis so Steve and Klaus were there; ex-workmates turned up (4 of 'em) - a pleasant surprise; the usual suspects were there, which included Vana (just back from Greece), Seamus (from Melbourne), and Lokesh (back visiting for a few days) - plus the recently arrived James, Paul and Kim. There was quite a large crowd of ex-schoolmates, which is quite amazing really. I smiled, drank beer and went home in time to get up at a sensible hour (as if I'd do anything else).

* Job goes well. Makes a difference.

* Girl goes well. A nice, slowly developing relationship where we don't feel we have to be all over each other all the time. I like independent people :-)

  Redistrict This!
Canada's message to the Republicans.

Seriously, anyone else wishing that the Union had just quietly let the Confederates go instead of fighting the Civil War? Or that the Brits had put down the American Revolution?
